Conservation

Our chapter works in a number of areas to conserve and protect native plants and plant communities. Under Current Issues, we focus on the protection of oak woodlands and the rare plants that are associated with gabbro soils (a.k.a the Pine Hill plants). Human developments posed the most significant threats to these plant communities. Our interest in Restoration is focused on returning sensitive habitats, like meadows, to a healthy condition. Our work on Invasive Plants is focused on lessening the impacts of aggressive, introduced species on native plants and native plant communities. You can read more about our past successes under Conservation History.
