We’re on a mission to awaken a deeper understanding of native plants and the vital role they play in sustaining life. We aim to shift how people see and live with nature, recognizing that native habitat is not just beautiful, but essential.

Our goal is to mobilize individuals to take responsibility for restoring what has been lost and protecting what remains. By revealing the powerful connections between native plants, wildlife, and people, we show how even small, everyday choices can help rebuild thriving ecosystems. What’s been lost didn’t happen all at once, it happened through everyday choices. And it can be rebuilt the same way.

This special event brings together two inspiring speakers who share our mission. Through their distinct approaches, they transform awareness into action—equipping people with the understanding, inspiration, and courage to protect, restore, and reimagine native habitat in their own community.

Renee Murphy – International keynote speaker and two-time TEDx presenter known as @midlifefarmgirl

As we look for solutions to environmental challenges, educators and environmental scientists like Renee are realizing that the answers are often already present in the natural world. The opportunity is in learning how to observe these systems and redesign our own practices around them. Beneath our feet, plants and soil microbes form intricate partnerships that detoxify polluted soil, rebuild biodiversity, and regenerate living systems. Nature already knows how to restore balance.

Jessie Dickson – Botanist and digital creator, known as SacramentoFoodForest

Grassroots advocates like Jessie are mobilizing communities across California to protect native plants and open spaces. His passion and commitment to this work demonstrates how community engagement, digital storytelling, and hands-on restoration can inspire a new generation of environmental stewards.

Together they connect restoration science with real-world action, showing how protecting biodiversity begins both underground and in our communities.
