We are privileged to live near one of the world’s botanical hotspots on the lands surrounding Pine Hill in western El Dorado County. This area is home to over 700 plant species, five of which are protected under the federal Endangered Species Act (https://eldoradocnps.org/plant-places/plant-hotspots/pine-hill-preserve). This area and the rare plants have been the subject of much research (see: https://eldoradocnps.org/plant-places/plant-hotspots/pine-hill-preserve/) and conservation efforts by our Chapter https://eldoradocnps.org/native-habitat/conservation/current-conservation-issues/).
Vice President Dr. Debra Ayres, and Conservation Chair Dr. Sue Britting, will combine forces to provide an overview of the science and politics of conserving our unique botanical heritage.
