We have changed the trail location for our August 15 field trip! Instead of taking the trail from the Meiss Trailhead at Carson Pass, we will take a trail nearby that goes south from Highway 88, just west of Carson Pass. We will take the trail from Woods Lake, about 8100 feet in elevation, going south and up to Lake Winnemucca, which is at about 9000 feet, for about 4 miles total round trip. There are wetlands and creeks along the way, providing moisture for later blooming plants, and lovely high elevation forest with whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis), western white pine (P. monticola), and mountain hemlock (Tsuga mertensiana).
